The 2025 Joint Provider Fire Marshal Training is an opportunity for Kansas adult care home providers and the State Fire Marshal's office to come together in a cooperative training. This event is coordinated together by LeadingAge Kansas, KHCA, KACE and KSFM.

8:30-9:00 AM | Registration

9:00-9:30 AM | KSFM Updates & Construction Overview | Rachel Martin, Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal

In this session, the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal will provide updates on exciting changes at the State Fire Marshal’s Office and discuss construction, renovations, and remodels and when KSFM notification is required.

9:30-10:20 AM | Document, Document, Document - Strategies for SuccessRachel Martin, Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal

Did you know that there are nearly 2 dozen survey items that are directly related to documentation and all of these are 100% within your control? During this session, KSFM will explore tips and resources to help you ace the document review portion of your survey.

10:30 AM-12:00 PM | The Need for Emergency Power - A Deep Dive into Generators | Paul Harris, Generator Services

In this session, Paul Harris from Generator Services will cover the key elements  of NFPA 110 and share tools, resources and practices to stay compliant.

12:00-1:00 PM | Lunch 

1:00-2:00 PM | A Wildfire Experience - The Story and the Lessons Learned from Yates Center Health & RehabYates Center Health & Rehab & Mission Health

On March 14, 2025 a wildfire nearly burnt the Yates Center Health and Rehab building to the ground.  In this session, staff from Mission Health will walk us through the experience that day, including the successful execution of a full evacuation, the lessons they learned, and how the event is changing their emergency planning going forward.

2:10-3:00 PM | Disaster Planning & the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis: Tools & Tips | Chuck Lane & Robbie Sills, BluSky Restoration

In this 50-minute session, Chuck and Robbie will share tips for identifying realistic hazards for your area, the best tools to use, and what to do with this knowledge. Participants will then engage in a facilitated group exercise to build out a mock Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA).

3:10-4:00 PM | Tabletop Exercises: Use, Design, & Facilitation | Chuck Lane & Robbie Sills, BluSky Restoration

In this 50-minute session, Chuck and Robbie will identify the key components of a tabletop exercise and discuss when to use a tabletop, how to design one, and how to lead an effective facilitation to capture realistic opportunities for improvement. Building on the HVA from the previous session, participants will engage in a group activity to design a simple tabletop exercise.


Continuing Education
This educational event has been approved for up to 6.0 continuing education hours in the core of Administration for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (LTS A0009).

LeadingAge Kansas is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 6.0 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0102-1116.

All other disciplines will receive a certification of attendance.

Cancellation Policies

Substitutions for events are always welcome. These individuals can be anyone employed on your campus, board members, resident family members, or residents. Substitutes must be made for the whole event. In certain circumstances, if substitution, live stream, or video alternative is not an option, a refund may be provided based on the guidelines below. If a refund is desired, request must be made in writing to [email protected] within 5 business days of the event start date. 

 

In-Person Event Refunds

Survey Related Cancellations: A full refund of the event registration fee will be provided with evidence of the survey. Documentation must be provided within 5 business days of the first day of the missed event.

Non-survey Related Cancellations: For cancellations received up to 14 days prior to the event start, a 50% refund will be issued, if requested in writing. Registrations cancelled 13 or fewer days prior to the event start will not be issued a refund.
