Annual Workers Compensation Seminar

KING is pleased to sponsor this year’s Annual Workers Compensation Seminar.   Seminar highlights include a Legal & Case Law Update, Pre-Employment Testing presented by Anna Woods, and Dr. Todd Caze will discuss Concussion Claims.

All KING members are encouraged to have a representative attend this important event.  All LeadingAge Kansas members are welcome to attend.  Administrators and nurses will receive continuing education credits for attending the entire seminar.

Seminar Objectives
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants will be able to understand, identify and/or implement:

  • How Pre-Employment Testing can assist or limit a member's hiring process.
  • How the changing landscape of THC can change how your organization implements their drug screening.
  • How concussion injuries can turn into long-term claims and how to manage them proactively.
  • The most recent changes to case law.

Faculty

Rachel Monger is the President/CEO of  LeadingAge Kansas and President of the KING program.  Rachel joined LeadingAge Kansas in 2011 as the Director of Government Affairs and has been a powerful voice for our membership ever since. Rachel is a Kansas licensed attorney and adult care home administrator. She received her bachelor's degree from Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, MA, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. As an award-winning trial lawyer, turned award-winning senior care advocate, Rachel has spent nearly two decades passionately supporting quality of care and quality of life for Kansas seniors.

Jeff Cox is the Director of Alternative Risk for Thomas McGee Group.  Jeff is responsible for both business development and ongoing consultation to clients who utilize alternative risk solutions in their risk management program(s).  Jeff has 33 years of experience in the alternative risk arena, focusing primarily on self-insurance, pooling, and group captives. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1987.

Mike Entz has been the primary legal counsel for the KING program for over 20 years.  Mike has defended numerous workers compensation claims and worked closely with Thomas McGee claims adjusters and LeadingAge Kansas members.  Mike’s practice also involves multi-party commercial construction litigation.  Mike earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration from the University of Kansas, a master’s degree in business from Washburn University and Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law.

Lyndi Bernard is a claims adjuster for Thomas McGee Group and the primary adjuster for the KING program over the past year. Previously, Lyndi was the Workers’ Compensation Liaison and Care Coordinator Supervisor at Abay Neuroscience Center. Prior to her position at Abay, Lyndi was the Patient Care Coordinator at NovaCare Rehabilitation.  Lyndi graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Kinesiology. Lyndi’s clinical experience has provided valuable knowledge and skills in her role as claim adjuster for KING members.

Beverly Figge is a Loss Control Consultant for Risk Strategies. Beverly covers the entire state of Kansas. She graduated from K-State with a degree in Business & Management Beverly is a Certified Safety Professional and has worked in the safety field for 20 plus years. 

Travis Bennett is a Loss Control Consultant for Risk Strategies. Travis has worked with KING for over 13 years. He graduated from UCM with a degree in Safety Management.

Dr. Todd Caze is a concussion specialist and owner of Caze Concussion Institute.  As one of only 30 doctors to complete a two-year concussion fellowship, he has extensive expertise in the field.  Dr. Caze has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles on concussion and has received multiple awards for his research.  He treats over 750 concussion patients annually, including over 250 work-related concussions in the past two and a half years.  Dr. Caze brings specialized expertise in concussion care and claims navigation.  With advanced training and a thorough understanding of the claims process, he offers practical solutions for managing concussion claims in Kansas

Anna Woods is the founder of sheSTRENGTH, a Central Kansas-based fitness organization specializing in adaptive and inclusive training for individuals of all ages and abilities. With nearly two decades of experience, Anna is a specialist in functional fitness, guiding clients to improve mobility, balance, and strength. Anna is an ACE-Certified Personal trainer, Biomechanical Exercise Specialist, and a two-time IDEA World Personal Trainer of the Year Finalist. She is also a frequent presenter at national fitness and health conferences, the creator of an adaptive fitness CEU course, and has presented nationally on inclusive fitness strategies for aging populations and individuals with special needs. As a biomechanical exercise specialist, she is trained to assess an individual's movement patterns, posture, and musculoskeletal function to identify and physical limitations, imbalances, or weaknesses. This expertise enables her to determine whether a person may face challenges in safely or effectively performing specific job duties, particularly those requiring physical exertion, coordination, or repetitive motion.


 

Continuing Education:
This program is approved for up to 3.5 continuing education clock hours for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians in the Core of Administration by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Provider number (LTS A0009). 

The Kansas State Board of Nursing approves the LeadingAge Kansas as a provider of continuing education. This course is approved for 3.5 continuing education hours applicable to RN, APRN and LPN re-licensure (KSBN LT0102-1116).
