Welcome to the TeamSTEPPS® Long-Term Care Curriculum

To simply the process of training your team, you will find the curriculum as it was used at our regional training.

A few tips to help you get started.

  1. You do NOT have to use the curriculum exactly as our team did. Modify and use as you see fit for your team. Using examples from your organization as case studies/examples can also be beneficial.
  2. The training does NOT have to take place in one sitting. Modules could be spread out over a few shorter sessions. Don’t spread them out so far participants forget what was learned between sessions.
  3. The materials for each module are organized in the same format for ease of use.
    1. Instructor Guide- This will provide the speaking note and details the presenter will use during the training. Note: Not every word on every slide needs to be covered. Our team encourages you to pick out a few key pieces of information from each and share those. This keeps the presenter from doing too much reading and avoids overloading the participants.
    2. Supply List- Provide a list of the supplies needed for each module. There are a few things needed for every module. These include:
      • Computer
      • Projector (or TV screen)
      • Internet access
      • Printed participant slides (found in each module - can do multiple slides per page) and the implementation worksheet (found in Module 1)
    3. Participant Slides- These are the slides you will show while presenting. They do not contain the speakers notes. These contain links to the videos (simply click the image of the penguin in the director’s chair to play videos).
    4. Exercise/Worksheets- These sheets align with the exercises presented in the slides.
    5. Evidence Base- The TeamSTEPPS® curriculum is evidence based. Should you wish to look at the evidence behind the module content those are provided.
    6. Videos- The videos are linked in the slides and should play when you click on the penguin image if they do not, the files are provided.
  4. Modules 1-7 make-up the Fundamentals Course and should be used for all training participants. Modules 8-12 are the trainer/coach materials and only need to be used by those seeking to become trainers.
  5. Download the app and participants to do so. The app is a quick way to reference the tools.
