We seek applications for the program May-June each year.

Stay Tuned: We will be Announcing the 2022-23 Class the first full week of September!

The Center for Leadership (CFL) is a year-long leadership intensive for individuals working in LeadingAge Kansas member organizations. The participants are chosen through a competitive application process and demonstrate a desire to grow their leadership knowledge in aging services. After completion of the program, they are designated Kansas Fellows and are becoming excellent leaders in our field across the state. The program is 100% member-led with a LeadingAge Kansas staff liaison.

The program's first class graduated in 2009 and since that time has awarded over 160 individuals the designation of Kansas fellow. The goal of the Center for Leadership is to grow leaders in aging services in Kansas. Many of our graduates have gone on to take executive roles in their own organization or elsewhere in the field. Most graduates report experiencing a significant change in both their person and professional lives as a result of the program.

Each class meets 4 times a year with the following topics:

  1. Discovering Your Authentic Leadership:  To understand ourselves so we can better lead others
  2. Leading Through Advocacy and Community Relationships: To understand trust in advocacy and community building
  3. Leading Change: To explore our potential as change agents in our organizations and in the field of aging services
  4. Leading Empowering and Motivating: To uncover what motivates us and others and learn how to build successful teams

 Meeting Dates/Locations

Cost

The cost is $1,800. If it seems like a lot, remember that it covers food, textbooks, virtual platforms, meeting costs for 4, 2-day meetings, speakers and much more. If that is still too difficult so swing, Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America has become a generous partner to provide scholarships to anyone who needs one. They don’t want the cost to be a barrier to someone going through this program.
